We hope you have been enjoying our weekly newsletters. Earlier this week Governor Newsom addressed California with a hopeful message about the evolving COVID-19 situation (you can view the speech HERE). Throughout this ordeal, we have grown stronger as a community, we have supported each other and those in need, and we will continue this trend as we move forward to recovery throughout the coming months. We are in this together!
This week we bring to you virtual resident events, a list of family friendly documentaries, a kids’ block party and art tutorials, additional exercise routines, and, of course, some exciting culinary suggestions.

Screen Time
Many experts suggest minimizing screen time to increase our engagement in relationships and in the tangible world around us. However, during this special time, many of us have turned to screens as a form of increasing these types of engagements, whether it be virtual “hangouts” with friends and family or scheduled movie nights with the ones sharing your space. Regardless of your situation, here is a LIST of some noteworthy, family-friendly documentaries that may spark some thoughtful conversations and contribute to your global-do-good bucket list.

Kids Activities
Spending too much time indoors can be tough for kids and parents alike. Take a breath and know we are here to help, at least a little!
1. Monthly Virtual Block Party
Have an upcoming birthday for your little ones? Don’t fret. Beyond the, now common, Zoom celebration with family and friends, Kidville offers a monthly virtual block party where they celebrate all the birthdays for that month. May’s celebration is a virtual “Superhero” party. Click HERE to register.
2. Art Tutorials
Have an artist in the making? Check out the Art for Kids Hub on YouTube for some pretty amazing drawing tutorials for both boys and girls. The difficulty ranges from very easy to more difficult, making it great for kids of all ages.

Exercise for Fun
Yes, we’ve said it before, and we will continue to emphasize the importance of exercise! Our Wellness & Performance team is determined to be an official part of your “No Excuses” team. We are here to motivate, provide inspiration and material to help increase your endorphins during these Safer at Home times. Endorphins are a type of neurotransmitter, or chemical messenger, helping relieve pain and stress; and get this – endorphins are only one of many neurotransmitters released when you exercise. Physical activity also stimulates the release of dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin. These brain chemicals play a big role when it comes to your mood. So, give yourself a smile and alleviate some of the stress by raising your heart rate for about 30 minutes at least 3 times per week.
Check the Crescent Heights App for the virtual LIVE class schedule, offering classes all day, every day with the Ten Thousand team. If you want to change it up here are some additional options to keep you moving and grooving!
- Build a stronger relationship with yourself using the Melissa Wood Health Method of low impact movements.
- Check out the Tracy Anderson Method and experience firsthand her results driven programs.
However you choose to elevate your heart rate, make sure you’re having fun and remember – consistency is king!
